99 trans am vs. 98 cobra

Hi, so i get a call form my friend tonight and he says his boy wants to race for some cash. Hes got a basically completely stock 98 cobra. My trans am mods are pacesetter LT's to catted y pipe, no mufflers, a volant CAI, and a pro 5.0 short shifter.
What you guys think can i take him.

yeah you should have no problem, my buddy has a 97 with full exhaust and intake and he only runs a 1/4 in 14.2. you got it

absolutly no problems at all, unless he isnt being honest about what he has. If thats all he's got it should be an easy pull, in the past ive raced a few older cobras and have had no issues.

1) Either the kid is a totall dumbass and has no idea about cars/racing
2) Hes not being honest about his mods, boosting your confidence, then smokes you harder than you thought you would smoke him.

None the less if both of you are honest, you should kill him hands down. Now if its another model cobra say those 03/04's THEN....its a differant story

yeaa i pretty much thought i would have no rpoblem i mean i pretty sure there only putting out around 315.....but he wanted to race for 500 tho so im starting to think hes full of shit with this no mod stuff..that or he doesnt kno anything about cars

Stock they pull Atleast 240+ rwhp and i think there rated at 305 under the hood, seen some obvsiously dyno higher. Even if he is at 260rwhp you still have him without any issues especially with the mods you have. You should be easily over 310+rwhp atleast. Hell i had a 3781lbs 01 M3 Vert 6speed at 310rwhp racing the newer mustang gt's 07 5 speed they usually pull atleast 255-260 rwhp stock and with a heavy car like that and power only up top from 7200rpms i was able to easily pull so with your LS1 it would be pretty easy victory unless he is lying about being stock. Ask him to open the trunk and hood before anything is set, basically im saying check for a bottle. If he's not running nitrous or a supercharger then youll eat him alive. Full boltons in his case still wont push him to a win. The only thing is you better know how to launch and row them gears
