first thing on the cam is what rpms do you want to drive in and do you want the car to idle?
oh yeah if you haven't put the pacesetters on put a straight edge on the mating surface some of their headers are warped from the factory
they weld them and do not surface them afterwards

get a converter before a cam.
as for a cam, a 112lsa will be choppy.
a 224 is a good mid range cam.

Additional factors to consider...

1) Is this your daily driver
2) Can you handle/live with an idle that has a temper
3) What strict are your smog laws
4) Is this for the track or street
5) Aftermarket heads or stock ones

As was said..I'd go with a converter first!

to answer a few of your questions.. yes this will be a daily driver, yes i can live with an idle that is mean ,stock heads,no emission testing. And about the converter. do i have to get one before the cam?

yes, you should get one before the cam.
anyways, a converter will give you bigger gains.

match the converter with your cam. purchase a cam based on combination not sound. all performance cams are gonna sound meaner then stock. people often purchase a cam based on a mean idle and then find out the car is no fun to drive cause you cant get into the power band during normal street driving without standing on it.

first of how do you jnow what type of cam you want to get in the first place?.. like in my case, lookin for a mean choppy idle on an a4,daily driver, loudmouth, slp hi flow lid, pacesetters w/3 inchs catted y pipe, no emissions, dont really know what rpm i want to idle at either,i just really like the sound, but also want good performance. any input would help.

TCI are good. I own a Fuddle - cost me USD$350. Great little unit.

Another reason to get a converter first is that a cammed car needs more idle RPM. A stock converter will want to pull at the lights heaps as its ridiculously tight and small. You needs more stall for a cammed A4 car for dirvability sake.
