I have heard that the redline heavy shock proof oil is to much for a factory 10 bolt and my neighbor said it also may be causing some of my whine with 373 gears. Just curious if this is true and if i should go back to using regular gear fluid?

RedLine is fine and would cause no issues you describe. With that said I would use either Amsoil or Mobil1 myself.

What weight gear oil do you recommend for the 10-bolt?

PS. I see you are a Texas fan (& alumni also?). Y'all have a good team this year. Assuming y'all remain undefeated, who do you think will be your opponent for the BCS Championship? Who would you prefer as your opponent?

For a 2000 CHEVROLET CAMARO with 5.7L 8-cyl Engine:

Rear Differential: All Temps......75W-90 GL-5

Capacity: 3.6 pints

Also, referencing back to this Older Thread (http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94482&highlight=75W-140&page=2), Sarge said he uses Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140 (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/svo.aspx?zo=1606470) with a bottle of Amsoil Slip Lock Differential Additive (http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ada.aspx?zo=1606470) in his modified 10.90 second GTO.

But you might ask Sarge to be sure. I know he changes his lubricants almost as much as many of us change our underwear, LOL.

I tried the Redline in my old 10 bolt and was getting one wheel burnouts. I feel dino gear oil is just fine in there. I use any ole 80/90 and just change every other year.
